Thank you, Matt, for this wise column. I have not cancelled my LA Times subscription. After all, I was a staff writer there for 18 years, and know many of the remaining journalists there. Last week, I cancelled my digital Washington Post subscription. But you make excellent points here, and I'm going to contact the Post this upcoming week and tell them I will restart my subscription. These billionaire media owners will not suffer from the loss of our financial support. But the journalists will.

Journalists can’t be real journalists if you cancel subscriptions because they’ll be beholden to the billionaire owners more than they already are now. Did I get it right? Boycotts work. And they work because the little people band together. Maybe all the unionized journalist should banned together and quit or put out their truths in other forums to send a message that they’re not paid off and have integrity so couldn’t stay silent? This is just a lot of words for job protectionism.

Of course, he was grilling Bernie. The one politician going after the top 1%. I agree that a boycott unfortunately punches down and hurts the workers not the billionaire owners.
